WEDDINGS AND RECEPTIONS

2019-QLD-ABIA-Award-Logo-CeremonyMusic_W

Saying 'I do' is a profound moment in our lives. The occasion calls for elegant music and presentation for your wedding day and you like the idea of hiring a string quartet, but you've never done so before and it's all a bit daunting. Please don't worry - we are here to help.

Being an award-winning wedding quartet and having performed for hundreds of weddings, Adiamus is specific to what you require and desire for your day. There are many components to a ceremony, for example, where music is needed to set the mood throughout different sections of the ceremony. Adiamus creates bespoke weddings, allowing you to choose the pieces of music you would like us to play, however if you're happy with us choosing suitable music, we are happy to do so! It's your day, and the music we play should be suited to you as a couple and the mood you would like to be set for the day.

We're here to help you choose the best music for your perfect day!

We've helped couples celebrate hundreds of weddings and understand exactly what kind of music works for each part of the celebrations.  In our experience, the key is to find songs that will connect each part of the wedding day and flow smoothly between each 'section'.

To help with your choices, we've put together some ideas for you:

Example Wedding Order of Events & Music

PRE-CEREMONY:

This is the music that sets the mood for your ceremony. Guests will be arriving and taking their positions. The groom and groomsmen will also be taking their positions.

The time leading up to the ceremony is often used as a reflection of why you and your guests are here, and music here to express love, light and a sense of calm is perfect to ease everyone present into what will be a very big moment in your lives together.

Popular choices:

Light Classical music:

Water Music - Handel
Fireworks Music - Handel

Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart

Contemporary:

Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran

PROCESSIONAL:

This is a truly marvelous moment - all eyes are on the bride and the music needs to match this beautiful vision. Generally and traditionally, a slow-to-moderate-paced piece of music suits well here to maintain a sense of calm and beauty.

The four instruments work together as what sounds like four smooth voices in beautiful harmony and a sense of peace.

Popular choices:

Classical:
Pachelbel's Canon in D
Brahms Waltz no. 3

Contemporary:
A Thousand Years - Christina Perri
Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis Presley
La Vie en Rose - Edith Piaf

You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban

SIGNING OF REGISTRY:

You have now said your vows and require music which will be a reflection of the commitment you have just made to each other in front of your loved ones. It is now time to sit down at your signing table with your celebrant to sign very important paperwork, and a chance for the photographer to capture some special images in a relaxed setting.

Popular choices:

Classical:
Brahms' Waltz no. 3
Handel's 'La Paiz' from the Fireworks Suite

Contemporary:
Can You Feel the Love Tonight
Dream a Little Dream of Me
Blue Spanish Eyes

RECESSIONAL:

Congratulations - you are officially husband and wife after all your hard work to bring this day together in front of your loved ones - it is now time to celebrate! We recommend an upbeat piece of music so you can exit down the aisle and also greet family and friends on the way out if you wish.

We recommend a long-ish piece of music so there is enough time for the initial feeling of celebration, plus the exit of husband and wife, plus the movement of family and friends out of the ceremony site.

Popular choices:

Classical:

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba - Handel

Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 - Bach

Spring - Vivaldi

Contemporary:
Love Story - Taylor Swift
Marry You - Bruno Mars
Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

ENTERTAINMENT:

It's time for your guests (and possibly you!) to enjoy some nibbles and drinks after the ceremony, perhaps while you're having photos taken. For entertainment music, there is a vast array of music genres which can be played and would be suitable to listen to.

A lot of guests really 'tune-in' to the music at this point, so it's very important that they have some good music to listen to which suits everyone's tastes.

Popular choices:

Favourites are:

Viva la Vida - Coldplay
Just the Way You Are - Bruno Mars

What a Wonderful World - Armstrong

Pretty Woman - Ray Orbison

Come What May - Moulin Rouge
Stand By Me - Ben E. King

RECEPTION AND FIRST DANCE:

If you would like us to perform for your reception, depending on the venue, this may require amplification. We can use pick-ups which run through our sleek BOSE speaker system which still provide the natural sound of strings, but can also pick up on the percussive sounds we make on our instruments for dancing time!

Certainly a classy and fun way to end your day.

Popular choices:

ABBA, tangos, Michael Jackson, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift and Elvis Presley, and even old classics such as 'Tequila', 'It Don't Mean a Thing', and 'Baby Elephant Walk' for good measure.
