Our greatest joy in being a quartet is producing a full ensemble sound for your event to make it special and memorable for years to come. Having performed for hundreds of events, Adiamus is consistent in approach and delivery which makes us stand out from the rest.

We perform across classical and contemporary genres including tangos, bossa nova, pop, rock and other styles. We are certainly not your average string quartet, also offering the option of complimentary amplified performance through our portable BOSE system depending on your venue and requirements.

When hiring Adiamus, you are hiring a group of four highly skilled, specifically-chosen musicians who provide the best possible atmosphere and entertainment for your peace of mind. We understand that every event is unique and we love to make beautiful music for everyone's enjoyment with a wide range of available repertoire for all ages and musical tastes.

Our Philosophy

To create the best live strings music available in south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales by covering various genres through the best string musicians who work together as a family. Each event is unique and an occasion in its own right, and our music reflects this. Polished performance, attire and styling are crucial to excellence.

An award-winning quartet, we are honoured to perform for all special occasions which require live strings.

TEEGAN DOWDELL BMus, MBA - Founder, Violin and Viola

Teegan is the founding member and permanent violinist and violist of Adiamus. She began learning the violin from her professional musician parents at three and taught herself the viola during university. Teegan completed her Bachelor of Music through Monash University in 2012 and her MBA through Griffith University in 2018. Her experience and performance knowledge is extensive having performed, taught and tutored in Melbourne, New South Wales and Queensland since 2007. Teegan is dedicated to providing a stable middle voice in all ensemble repertoire, giving music the flavour of a full sound. All repertoire is handpicked specifically by her to suit Adiamus' musicians' individual performance styles, and she has arranged a number of of modern and pop pieces to bring out the individual strengths of each of the performers to make the music even more special.

Teegan is your sole point of contact through your entire booking process and will help create your event with appropriate repertoire to match your needs as well as making your booking experience easy and comfortable. Teegan's advice is always on hand for your music choices and she loves the spontaneous process of creating the atmosphere through music on the day!

ANNA MOORES - Violin 1

Joining Adiamus in 2017, Anna has performed violin as a soloist as well as in professional and community orchestras and chamber ensembles since her teens. In the early 2010s, she was the Manager and ensemble leader of the Australian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, performing alongside internationally acclaimed virtuosi violinists and pianists. For this role in particular, she received high critical acclaim as the driving force of this new group, bringing classical chamber music and classical rock performances to sold-out audiences all over Australia. She has recently returned home and performs regularly as a freelance violinist.

Anna is a bubbly personality and always a delight to have as a key figure of Adiamus. Her musical leadership of the group, clear performance tone, soaring melodies, funky beats and friendly, fun nature warm her to clients, vendors, venue owners and audiences at every turn. Adiamus reveres Anna as a true professional; graceful, warm and a talented violinist with endless repertoire and musical genres under her fingertips! In her spare time, she enjoys time with her two lovely children and keeping her hands busy with sewing and other crafts.

RHYS WILLIAMS - Violin 2

Rhys is an experienced musician, starting his music journey as a late bloomer in his teens in 2009 and started with Adiamus in 2014, reaching Diploma level in just five years; an incredible feat (being something of a prodigy!). He displays an interest and passion for the music of the Romantic period, taking a liking especially to the virtuosic music of Wieniawski. Rhys' love for contemporary styles such as jazz and bossa nova allows him to take pride in expression of his crafty, impressive improvisation skills. In our jazz and modern repertoire, you may hear some solo violin jazz stand out from the ensemble - that's our Rhys!

Rhys enjoys the friendships of the Adiamus group and how each of their different personalities and performance styles come together to create a cohesive sound. A Sunshine Coast local, he is Concertmaster of the Davonski Concert Orchestra, often performing solos and concerti, as well as a violin teacher in schools. Rhys' arrangement skills are also a benefit to the group and we perform his arrangements often.

RORY SMITH - Cello

Rory joined Adiamus in 2016 and is an enthusiastic musician with a passion for chamber music. Recent years have seen him perform as a solo, chamber and orchestral musician, performing across Australia and overseas, namely leading the Australian Youth Orchestra cello section and being accpeted into Camerata, Queensland's premier chamber ensemble, nationally recognised. Rory was a finalist in the 2017 and 2018 Sleath String Prize and the Richard Pollett Prize, as well as being the Principal Cellist of University of Queensland's Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra.

Rory has undertaken professional development programmes in chamber and orchestral music for young, emerging artists such as the prestigious Tinalley Winter Chamber Music School.

When he has some free time, he enjoys a cheeky glass of wine (or two) with some baked brie, and is partial to a good coffee!

The Adiamus musicians have been specifically chosen for the group based upon their individual  talents, musical capabilities and fun yet professional personalities. Between us, we have local, state, national and international performance experience in chamber, orchestral modern settings, with degrees from Performance Diploma to Masters and Doctorate level in business and music performance. If one of the above musicians is not available, we have a small pool of select permanent musicians who deputise and perform with us regularly, keeping in line with our permanent-musician service for quality performance. We take pride in our high level of performance to provide quality music experiences and integrity in our approach and delivery for every special occasion.
